USING SOME HIGH PRODUCTIVITY GOAT TO IMPROVE

PRODUCTIVITY OF LOCAL GOAT

This study was carried out at Duyen Hai distric, Tra Vinh province which had suitable condition for goat husbandry to improve local productivity of goat.

Pure Bach Thao goat grown and well adapted to Duyen Hai condition. Alive ratio was very high 94.11-100.00% (from birth to 9 month of age). Body weight was 10.9kg (3 month of age), 16.6kg (6 month of age), and 21.5kg (9 month of age). It was higher than body weight of local goat (10.03-15.38%).

Goat male (pure Bach Thao, pure Jumnapari, crossbred between Alpine, Saanen and Bach Thao) and their crossbred would adapt and develope well at Duyen Hai. Body weight of crossbred was 12.5 kg, 18.5kg, and 25.1kg at 3, 6, 9 month of age. It was 23.66-28.45 % higher than body weight of local goat. The body weight of crossbred between Bach Thao, Jumnapari and local goat was higher 28.68-38.78% than local goat. So that Bach Thao and Jumnapari goat should be use to improve productivity of local goat.
